Festival Opening Ceremony 2018

This year’s festival opening live act is Young Georgian Lolitaz, “one of the most distinctive and contemporary representatives of Georgian culture” (esckaz.com). The Georgian indie rock band became internationally famous for representing Georgia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 in Stockholm where they performed the song “Midnight Gold”. They are the first all-male band to represent Georgia in the contest and reached the final round. The band members Nika Kocharov (vocals, guitar), Giorgi Marr (vocals, bass), Levan Shanshiashvili (guitar, keyboards) and drummer Dimitri Oganesian name The Beatles, Nirvana, Blur and Radiohead amongst other bands as their influence as musicians. Accordingly, the four Lolitaz are famous for progressive yet melodic pop-rock with sophisticated arrangements, accurate lyrics and their thrilling live performances such as the upcoming one in the city of Schwerin.
