Reading Nino Haratischwili “The Eighth Life (For Brilka)“, 3rd of May, 7 pm
Another highlight of the Georgian Cultural Programme will be the reading by author Nino Haratischwili from her book “The Eighth Life (For Brilka)” which was published in 2014 and immediately was highly acclaimed by German critics who compared the epic structure of Haratischwili’s novel with that of Thomas Mann’s early masterwork “Buddenbrooks” from 1901. In “The Eighth Life (For Brilka)”, Haratischwili tells about the lives of Russian-Georgian women of three generations, reaching from Stalin’s dictatorship to the post-soviet era, and therefore designs an epic panorama of fates from a distinctive female perspective.
Nino Haratischwili was born in Tiblis and is now living in Hamburg.
